Pelvic floor physical therapy is a specialty focused on the rehabilitation of the pelvic floor muscles affected by a variety of diagnoses including bowel, bladder, sexual dysfunctions, and pelvic pain known as Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. A trained Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist will assess the level of strength, tone and function of the pelvic floor muscles, determine what causes the dysfunction, and treat appropriately. Physical therapy interventions are not ‘one size fits all’ so it is important to have your pelvic floor muscles assessed by a specialist.

Dr. Tara founded M2B for those in need of both pelvic floor physical therapy and sexual counseling. As a pelvic health specialist for over 12 years, she is experienced with the mind to body connection that affects sexual function. Combining pelvic floor physical therapy and sexual counseling services offers a comprehensive approach to addressing physical and psychological aspects of sexual well-being. Sexual health involves physical, emotional, and relational aspects of sexuality. These combined services address patients navigating issues such as low desire, performance anxiety, communication problems with partner(s), shame , guilt, or fear associated with sex, religious and cultural influence, and any type of trauma. These emotional and psychological aspects may be in concurrence with physical concerns such as pain with sex, pelvic pain, erectile dysfunction, prostatitis, vaginismus, anorgasmia, and any other sexual related concerns from a biopsychosocial perspective.

Dr. Kylee Austin, PT, DPT started in the health and fitness field as a personal and group fitness trainer specializing in postpartum women’s fitness in 2013. She has made a niche for herself working online and in person empowering moms, like herself, to embrace motherhood and a healthy lifestyle. She is a mother to three young boys, including twins, and has had a passion for pelvic health since going through her own postpartum and pelvic health issues. In 2021, Kylee, driven to gain more knowledge in this field, attended Northern Arizona University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. In 2023, Kylee graduated from this program with distinction and obtained her doctorate and licensure. She is an active member and volunteer with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the Pelvic Health Section of the APTA. She obtained her Pelvic Health Level 1 training with Herman and Wallace and completed a pelvic health clinical rotation with HonorHealth in Arizona.

Dr. Kylee hopes to bring her exercise and fitness background along with clinical pelvic health skills to Mind to Body Healing to deliver much needed therapy services to patients. She looks forward to working with Dr. Tara to provide healing and hope to all in a safe and inclusive environment.

Melissa Lea Rietz, CNP, FNP-BC, CSE, RYT-200, IF, is a dedicated professional with over 25 years of experience in women’s health, specializing in hormonal optimization. Trained at the University of Michigan, she is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner and a leader in sexual medicine for more than two decades, bringing extensive expertise in endocrinology and hormone health to her practice. She remains at the forefront of cutting-edge approaches to women’s wellness, completing advanced training from leaders in the field including The Institute of Functional Medicine, The Institute of Women’s Health and Integrative Medicine, and A4M. As a certified Sexuality Counselor through AASECT, Melissa offers comprehensive support, prioritizing her patients’ holistic well-being.

Dr. Tara Sullivan, PT, PRPC, WCS, IF started in the healthcare field as a massage therapist practicing over ten years, including three years of teaching massage and anatomy & physiology. During that time, she attended college at Oregon State University earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sport Science, and she continued on to earn her Masters of Science in Human Movement and Doctorate in Physical Therapy from A.T. Still University. Dr. Tara has specialized in Pelvic Floor Dysfunction (PFD) treating bowel, bladder, sexual dysfunctions and pelvic pain exclusively since 2012. She has earned her Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification (PRPC) deeming her an expert in the field of pelvic rehabilitation, treating men, women, and children. Dr. Sullivan is also a board certified clinical specialist in women’s health (WCS) through the APTA and a Fellow of the International Society for the study of Women Sexual Health (IF).

Dr. Tara established the pelvic health program at HonorHealth in Scottsdale and expanded the practice to 12 locations across the valley. She continues to treat patients with her hands-on individualized approach, taking the time to listen and educate her patients, empowering them to return to a healthy and improved quality of life. Dr. Tara has developed and taught several pelvic health courses and lectures at local universities in Arizona including Northern Arizona University, Franklin Pierce University, and Midwestern University. In 2019, she joined the faculty team at Herman and Wallace teaching continuing education courses for rehab therapists and other health care providers interested in the pelvic health specialty, including a course she authored-Sexual Medicine in Pelvic Rehab and co-author of Pain Science for the Chronic Pelvic Pain Population. Dr. Tara is very passionate about creating awareness on Pelvic Floor Dysfunction and launched her website pelvicfloorspecialist.com to continue educating the public and other healthcare professionals.

In 2024, Dr. Tara founded her company Mind to Body Healing (M2B) to continue spreading awareness on pelvic health, mentor other healthcare providers, and incorporate sexual counseling in to her pelvic floor physical therapy practice. Dr. Tara continues to care for patients at HonorHealth and M2B.
